Louis Comfort Tiffany’s early claims to fame were based on Tiffany stained glass windows. One of the most famous is “The Holy City” (1905). It is based on the vision of St. John on the isle of Patmos. It is constructed of 58 panels and is believed to be one of the largest created by Tiffany Studios. It is currently located at Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, Maryland.

Tiffany style lighting is a direct descendant of this type of genius. Tiffany table lamps, Tiffany chandeliers, and Tiffany wall sconces, to name just some, all possess the grandeur and beauty of Tiffanie’s early works in Tiffany stained glass windows.

A Tiffany vanity light is a surface mounted wall fixture with two, three, or more lights; usually mounted in a bathroom. A Tiffany vanity light is used for both direct and indirect lighting. It will provide the direct work light appropriate for the bathroom chores as well as reflect off the wall and ceiling to fill the room with the required light for overall illumination.

In a double sink situation you may choose to use one Tiffany vanity light of 5 or 6 lights, or two 3 or 4 light Tiffany vanity lights side by side. Accenting with additional Tiffany style lighting is difficult due to the space restriction. One possible exception would be a Tiffany flushmount overhead light.  Another possibility is a Tiffany accent light in one corner of the bathroom counter top. This could be rotated by style as the seasons change.

Tiffany pendant lighting comes in one, two three, and four light models. In addition Tiffany oblong lights (sometimes refereed to as pool table lights) are very effective in creating the required lighting in a beautiful and creative way.  These units can be suspended over any work area. Some are suspended by a pole. Others are suspended by a chain for greater versatility in placement. Tiffany pendant lights are most effective when controlled by a dimmer switch.
