Tiffany Wall Sconces

Tiffany wall sconces are probably the least utilised light source. This is only because they require an electrical junction box on the wall where you desire the Tiffany wall sconce. Tiffany table lamps and Tiffany floor lamps can be plugged in and placed any where you need them. Tiffany chandeliers, Tiffany flushmounts, Tiffany hanging pendants, and Tiffany mini pendants all require an electrical junction box, but unlike the Tiffany wall sconce there is usually an existing junction box right where you need it for the unit you are replacing.

When planning a remodel, or building a new home,  you should consider the use of Tiffany wall sconces early enough to have the required electrical supply junction box placed properly to give you the opportunity to utilize Tiffany wall sconces in your overall lighting design theme

Flushmount Lighting VS Chandeliers

Tiffany chandeliers and Tiffany flushmount lighting systems will both provide all the illumination a room will require. The question is which is appropriate for any given room.

The correct Tiffany style lighting unit for a given lighting problem depends on a few factors. When trying to decide between a Tiffany chandelier or a Tiffany flushmount unit you must look at the overall size of the room and the intended use for the room. Tiffany chandeliers come in three, four, six, eight and even twelve arm units. The larger the unit, the more ceiling height you require. Nothing spoils the look of a room than a ceiling fixture that is out of proportion. Too small a room and the Tiffany chandelier will over power the over all look. On the other hand a three arm Tiffany chandelier in an entrance way that opens to two floors will be dwarfed and look ridiculous. Try cutting out paper replicas that represent the approximate size of the fixture you have in mind. Suspend the cut out with string and view from all sides before making your actual purchase.

Accenting the walls with Tiffany wall sconces works best with Tiffany chandeliers and will finish off the desired effect. Remember to use dimmer switches to control the overall effect.

The most important step in creating the proper lighting effect for any given room is to first select a theme. Tiffany style lighting offers an almost unlimited design selection.

Once the theme has been determined the next step is to find the most effective combination of available Tiffany lighting sources available. Tiffany flushmount lighing is a good start for ceiling mounted direct room lighting. The available accent pieces must undergo careful consideration. Tiffany table lamps, Tiffany floor lamps, Tiffany accent lamps and Tiffany wall sconces are all viable combination lighting sources. They will each produce from 20 to 50 percent of the light required for any given room. Which combination depends on the function of the room and the personal tastes of the people using the room most often. The need for varying the combinations used from room to room can not be over emphasized.

A Tiffany wall sconce is typically a one or two light fixture surface mounted to a wall. Tiffany wall sconces are exclusively indirect lighting. They generally house 25 to 40 watt light bulbs and are most effective when controlled by a dimmer switch. They are outstanding for creating mood while adding beautiful color and design. Tiffany wall sconces are the best way to accent a large Tiffany chandelier in a grand entrance way.

Tiffany wall sconces create the most desirable effect when combined with other Tiffany style lighting. When arranged to complement each other Tiffany floor lamps, Tiffany table lamps, Tiffany pendant and Tiffany hanging pendant lights as well as Tiffany accent lights can all create the Tiffany style lighting thiem you desire.

A Tiffany chandelier is a surface mounted ceiling fixture with lighted arms. A Tiffany chandelier can have as few as three arms or as many as twelve. Some custom fixtures are even larger. A Tiffany chandelier is a dominating light source used to create a feeling of grandeur and expanse. It makes a room feel large and full.

A small Tiffany chandelier of three to four arms can be accented with Tiffany floor lamps, Tiffany accent lamps and Tiffany table lamps. A larger Tiffany chandelier in a grander room can be best accented with Tiffany wall sconces around the perimeter of the room. For the best effect and control all the fixtures should be controlled by independent dimmer switches. This will give you the greatest flexibility in creating any lighting effect.

Using Tiffany Floor Lamps

Tiffany floor lamps are portable lamp with a shade that directs the light downward and has a height usually taller than 48″. Tiffany floor Lamps are a combination light source. Its primary function is as a direct light source, however when placed in the corner of a room the light will reflect off the two walls and ceiling providing indirect lighting. This is partly how a Tiffany torchier lamp creates indirect lighting. This will provide about 50 percent of the required light source for a standard room.

When two Tiffany floor lamps are placed in opposite corners of a single room you can achieve most of the light required for any given room. Additional combinations of Tiffany table lamps, Tiffany wall sconces or Tiffany chandeliers will accomplish a unique blend of lighting to create any desired effect.

Tiffany table lamps are a portable light fixture with a shade having a 14″ width or larger. Tiffany table lamps are a direct light source best suited for illuminating a specific work area. They normally have one 60 watt light bulb which will only provide about one third the light normally required for an entire room.

For this reason Tiffany table lamps work best when combined with another type of light fixture. Tiffany floor lamps, Tiffany flushmount ceiling lights, Tiffany pendant lights, Tiffany chandeliers and Tiffany wall sconces are the best companion pieces for Tiffany table lamps.

Thw Winchester Mystery House

Stained glass windows are a great solution to a bad view problem. They can provide great color , beauty and uniqueness to a problem window. One of the best examples of this is the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California. Daily tours of this 160 room Victorian mansion are a must see when visiting the San Francisco Bay area. The construction of the mansion was the Brain child of Sara L. Winchester the heiress to the Winchester Rifle fortune. She began in 1884 and continued construction until her death 38 years later.

One of the most remarkable oddities in the mansion revolves around stained glass windows. The most beautiful stained glass piece in the mansion was placed in the window that received the least sun light in the mansion. The best window in the mansion for stained glass has the plainest lead crystal window in the mansion. Odd to be sure.

There are wonderful Tiffany stained glass windows available that can beautify any window treatment problem you may have. Try not to make Sara Winchesters mistakes with lighting. Generally speaking easterly views get the best morning light and westerly views get the best evening light.

The Winchester Mystery House also has a museum quality display of Tiffany style lighting, to include: Tiffany table lamps, Tiffany chandeliers, Tiffany floor lamps, Tiffany accent lamps, Tiffany hanging pendant lamps, and Tiffany wall sconces
